Yes! The purpose of our company is that you have no worries during your day with us. In this case, our 4x4 vehicle will pick you up at the hotel, airport, apartment, friend’s house, bus or train station Porto, Braga, Guimarães, V.N. Famalicão or other places, including in the south side of Douro river.
Yes! Our 4x4 vehicles have special children seats and 6 seats available in total. The vehicle is suitable to accommodate you and all members of your family. The easy level of the our hikes and our guides are prepared to take care for children and seniors. Do not give up on your plan to explore the Peneda - Gerês National Park just because your family is coming along. In a positive way, see this as an opportunity to spend a different day in the family.
The most important thing are the shoes! These should be comfortable for hiking. No slippers or high-heeled shoes, please. It is advisable to bring comfortable and wide clothing in order to allow better mobility during the walk. In the Geres Tour , bikini / shorts are recommended in the summer, a towel, sunglasses and sunscreen, are not a bad idea.
You can take public transportation from your location to the Gerês National Park. In the villages you may try to hike some trails (be aware that some of them may be restricted and you may need a special license) or find a local company that can take you to the beginning of the tracks. If you decide to go with TREK PORTUGAL, you will not have any worries about transportation, as we will take care of everything from the beginning to the end of your jounrey. Do not forget that TREK PORTUGAL will be the easiest way to discover the best trails and places in Peneda National Park.
Yes! Nature always shows us different beauties that will amaze you. During the fall / winter season, we can admire the incredible brown color of the landscapes and the power of the waterfalls. In the spring / summer season it will also amaze you as you can swim in spectacular lagoons and feel the powerful smell of flowers. Throughout the year, we visit small villages where you can meet the locals and discover the other side of Portugal.
Easy / moderate level. Our tours are for small groups (max. 6 people) allowing each person to go at their own pace.
It depends on the purpose of your visit. If you want to swim in the lagoons, it is only possible from March to October. On the other hand, if the idea is to walk, discover new places (and people) and relax, you can also do it in the winter. You can go whenever you want, knowing that Peneda-Gerês is always a great choice!
In winter we can have a few rainy days - about 20%, snow - about 5 days a year at the highest mountain levels and temperatures range between 0°C / 32°F and 10°C / 50°F. Spring and autumn are moderate. We can have some rain with temperatures that oscillate between 8ºC / 46ºF and 23ºC / 73ºC. In summer, you can have average temperatures between 18ºC / 64ºF (min.) and 30ºC / 86ºF (max.)
An off-road 4x4 vehicle, of course! The others may be faster, but we can go everywhere. The only way to get to the best places in Gerês is to have a 4x4 vehicle and a special license to go there, which TREK PORTUGAL has.
Yes. We also have special discounts and we can organize private tours for your family, if you wish. Children and elderly are welcome.
Yes. We have a wide variety of dishes that can satisfy your needs (vegetarian / vegan / lactose intolerant / etc).
The best gastronomy in northern Portugal. Roasted sausage, Olives, Green broth, Green wine, Cod dumplings, Homemade cornbread, Codfish, Saw cheese, Minced meat, Melon with ham, Cream cake, Coffee or Tea, Local drinks. Lunch is in a typical restaurant where only locals and Portuguese tourists go to ... usually eat what you will eat.
Some of the money you pay goes directly to local communities. Our goal is to help these communities develop resources to sustain and preserve the forest. These communities develop the local economy by creating new jobs for young people. With your help, we can help the sustainability for life in the field, for the next generations.
If you are lucky, you may see the mountain wild goat, or the Iberian wolf, which in reality is very difficult. Butterflies are constant and lizards are found anywhere, especially between spring and autumn. Wild flowers bloom everywhere from spring to autumn and are so small that we take the risk of stepping on them. Hiking the same trail every day, you can spot different types of flowers. Throughout the National Park there are some bushes, some of them well known for being abundantly used to make tea. The Hipericão and Carqueja are the most famous, but you can find more.
We suggest from 3 to 80 years.
Rafting, kayaking, traditional cooking workshops in the villages, hiking, canoeing, or other on request. If it is outdoors or in the mountains we can do it and we always have a solution. For your company, school, friends, bachelor party, we are here for you.
Our philosophy is that people are not tourists. People are people, just like us, who love to travel and nature. So our guides are not the "typical" tour guide, they are friendly people who love nature. TREK PORTUGAL is also licensed to visit some off-road trails in special places in Gerês. We love what we do and our work only makes sense if at the end of the day you tell us: "It was the best day during my stay in northern Portugal."
All our guides are trained in first aid and are always equipped with a first aid kit.
Yes! We know enough people in Gerês who will open their houses to welcome us. However, we try to organize the best way for the tour not to be on rainy days. Either way, we choose trails where the impact of rainfall is lower.
The minimum is 2 people and the maximum is 6. For other numbers please contact us in order to present a solution.

We did not take it to crowded places (in the Peneda Gerês National Park). In the chosen places, there may be more than a group of people, but as a rule we do not like places with much noise, because we love the sound of nature. Shopping! This is something we do not intend to do. We never stop at gift shops or any kind of stores unless you request it. However, our guides will not try to sell you anything. We like nature, we do not like shops and on our tours we do what we like to do. During the tour no alcoholic beverages will be provided, than those available during lunch time; Our guides will not deal with you as tourists, but rather as a friend. We have a plan B, in case of adverse weather, vehicle problem or, worst case scenario, someone gets injured ... We have an alternative plan to get around everything that might prevent your day from being as perfect as you wanted.
Everything is dangerous if you do not follow the rules. All our activities are prepared and accompanied by professional guides certified by the competent authorities. They will ensure your safety so that you only have to worry about the fun.
The official language of our tours is Portuguese or English. If you want a specific language, you will have to ask us.
We have two insurance policies covering company liability and personal liability, so we always ask for full names and dates of birth before starting the tour.
Prices may change at any time due to various facts and are updated immediately on our website. After the reservation is confirmed by TREK PORTUGAL, the price will not change.
Withdrawals are subject to the following penalties, as stipulated: (1) Up to 48 hours before: No penalty; * (2) 24 hours before: 50% penalty; * (3) Less than 24 hours before: 100% penalty. * Bank transfer fees may be applied to the amount to be refunded.
Our tours can be done from anywhere, as long as it is feasible. Our company is configured to go to Porto, Guimarães, Braga, Famalicão, Terras de Bouro, Vieira do Minho, Povoa de Lanhoso, Amares and Vila Verde. For other locations, including the south side of the Douro river, please contact us.
