Trek Portugal has redesigned its business model to respond to some of the challenges of the UN Agenda 2030, specifically as it relates to 4 Sustainable Development Goals:

         8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth;
       10 – Reducing Inequalities;
       12 – Sustainable Production and Consumption;
       15 – Protect Earth Life.

We seek to respond to a market gap, accessible tourism and sustainable tourism, focusing our activity on the set of goals that we present and taking advantage of the natural resources and heritage of the region in which we live.

The following goals are those that are part of our ambit of activity and are the basis of the design of the services and the offer we make available.


Target 8.9
– By 2030, develop and implement policies to promote sustainable tourism, which generates jobs and promotes local culture and products.


Contribution of Trek Portugal
• Priority to networking and cooperation between local partners, always bearing in mind respect for local culture and nature.
• Priority to local producers, who are in accordance with the philosophy of responsible tourism and who in some way include / participate in projects or activities that contribute to the sustainability of resources.
• Promotion of the cultural, gastronomic and natural heritage of the Northern Region of Portugal.


Target 10.2 – By 2030, to empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, economic status or otherwise.


Contribution of Trek Portugal
• Creation of tourist tours / pedestrians with specific conditions and equipment so that people with disabled mobility can take advantage of these same itineraries in a natural / rural environment where, in normal conditions, there are numerous (naturaIs) obstacles or barriers, that are difficult to overcome.


Target 12.8 – By 2030, ensure that people, everywhere, have relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.


Contribution of Trek Portugal
• Commitment to minimizing the impact of activities on the environment through the application of a series of principles and actions that promote the preservation of fauna and flora species, such as the manual on good practices for the visitation of natural spaces, awareness and information for the customers.
• We seek to make our team, partners and clients aware of the importance of preserving the present natural and cultural values.


Target 15.1 – By 2020, ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of inland terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and arid lands, in accordance with their obligations under international agreements.

Contribution of Trek Portugal
• Develop or participate in campaigns for planting or reforesting native trees, in partnership with other associations, suppliers, partners and clients, contributing to biodiversity support, combating climate change and increasing forest area for the future.
